The contemporary 65 square-foot two rooms private office was designed by Firma d.o.o. is located in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The black and white small project completed in 2010, two rooms an enfilade, and a small kitchen and toilette.
Office of the architectural design studio „Firma“ is situated in a converted apartment of an early 20th century building in Sarajevo (dating back from the Austro-Hungarian period). The studio’s interior of cca 65 m2 comprises of two rooms an enfilade, and a small kitchen and toilette.
The principal design objectives were based on the idea to create a bright and „optimistic“ space, by employing white, reflective surfaces and mirrors, which both amplify natural lighting, and visually expand relatively small space. Monochromatic color scheme (black and white) within the interior, provides a „neutral background“ for a working place such as an architectural office, but it also enables a high contrast with the window views – slates and bricks of the rooftops and chimneys of the neighboring buildings. Contemporary Salop Gelman House by Travis Price Architects
American architectural firms Travis Price Architects have designed the Salop Gelman House project.
This contemporary two levels home is located in Washington DC, and was completed in 2010. The Salop Gelman house is a new home on a lot overlooking the Potomac River above a large spillway with a placid manmade lake to one side and the harsh rippling rapids to the other.
Salop Gelman House by Travis Price Architects
The Salop/Gelman residence is a new home on a lot overlooking the Potomac River above a large spillway with a placid manmade lake to one side and the harsh rippling rapids to the other. The essential design parti was a garden path that literally bifurcated the home creating an endless path outward to experience the parted waters as the main entry. Nature as front door was the key.
To one side is a large living, dining, kitchen and master bedroom suites. The path to the other side continues down through a long tunnel through media room to the other side containing 3 more bedrooms and an office. The entire house is also a reflection of silver clouds and rolling hills.
The large roof canopy is a direct function of full winter passive solar gain and full summer shading. Functional green design is celebrated by the metaphors of waters and nature in view. It is highly insulated, passively heated and cooled, as well as equipped with a solar domestic hot water system. The entire skin uses low embodied energy with brushed aluminum, indigenous stone and glass. The interior is all select cut lumber and engineered wood. Via

French Country Home by London Architects
You could call this French country home a labor of love for London architects Greg Blee and Lee Halligan – one ultimately spanning almost 30 years. Blee’s parents purchased this countryside home in 1981. Originally built in 1822, this historic home with a mill and three additional structures on the property were in desperate need of some TLC, and with the help of family and friends, the Blees brought this rustic cabin home back to its full glory. In March 2010, Blee Halligan Architects completed the transformation of a 215-sq.-ft. cabin design on the property. This compact cottage was actually made off site, and transported in small pieces via Chunnel. Once on its idyllic site, the prefabricated cabin took shape as an eco friendly cottage, made of local natural materials and complete with solar panels. This passive solar home design really “works” with its natural surroundings. Blee Halligan Architects

Stunning Steel House Made by One Industrious Individual
A self-styled artist, architect and sculptor, Robert Bruno’s home is more than just a house – it is a masterpiece of art and engineering synthesizing all of his aesthetic and engineering talents in a single spectacular structure. Weighing over 100 tons, this is one of the most amazing buildings ever constructed by a passionate individual – only possible with the right synthesis of vision, skill and patience.
The work itself is worthy of the strange new architectural stars like Frank Gehry who bend space and structure to their whims – only this example was made carefully, piece by piece, a work in progress constructed by hand. Also unlike many of his architectural all-star contemporaries, Bruno made the steel of his structure itself structural – rather than relying on a wood or metal frame to hold it together.
The form was not predetermined. In fact, Bruno did not even realize he was embarking upon the greatest work of his life when he started the project as a simple steel volume. It has grown and multiplied in all directions, expanded spatially in ways the designer never expected. It is not the paragon of functionality but nor is it meant to be. It remains a work of eclectic aesthetics but undeniable genius.

Sustainable House Design On Display in Sydney, Australia - House of the Future
This futuristic house by Xenian is on display in Sydney, Australia, at a public exhibition for sustainable house design. This environmentally responsible design features modern technologies that trend towards a life of consuming less, wasting less, and relying on alternate forms of energy to create comfort at home. Aptly named the “House of the Future” this modern design was prefabricated – a popular construction method for the eco-conscious requiring less resources and resulting in less site disruption during development. The warm, wooden design boasts low-power LED lighting which gives the home an ultra-modern appeal. Green features include a rainwater harvesting system, passive ventilation, and solar cells embedded in the expansive panes of glass making up the front facade. Outside, a sustainable garden completes the modern residential design. Xenian.

Modern Vineyard Villas In Portugal
If you are the kind of person who fancies owning a vineyard and brewing your own brand of wine, this is the place for you. The L’AND project in Portugal targets the type of tasteful gentlemen who might envy Russell Crowe in the movie ‘A Good Year‘. The project, which is still under construction, is a major undertaking which includes 5 different architectural firms from across Europe. The architects have been briefed to provide a sophisticated natural experience for the inhabitants with modern style of architecture that reinterprets Mediterranean patio houses. The interiors too reflect this modern taste and deviate very much from the typical rustic charm you normally associate with vineyards and villas. They have provided some awesome images of the designs.
