Last of the Old Guard?

Old Truck, Danny's Classic Cars, Elko, South Carolina © Doug Hickok

When life gets tough, sometimes you must put-up your guard and plow straight through. That seems to have been the philosophy of this old truck. Times have changed though, and life strategies have become more sophisticated... you can hire a life coach these days to help you survive the intricacies of the modern world, and achieve your goals. Outdated modes of thinking have become like this rusty relic from another era.

Single House Style

Single Houses, Colonial Lake, Charleston, SC © Doug Hickok

A distinctive form of Charleston's architectural style is the single house. Many of the original plots in colonial Charleston were long, narrow properties, running perpendicular to the streets. A house built on this land was typically one room wide (a single house), or sometimes two rooms wide (a double house). Entry to the house from the street was through a side door which opened onto a porch or piazza.
The two houses pictured above on Colonial Lake are examples of the single house style.

I'll leave you with some cool photography links for your weekend pleasure... hope you enjoy!

22 Kids Bedroom Furniture and Themes by ColombiniCasa

Some new bedroom interior design especially for your kids. ModernMinimalis.com will present to you creative and fun idea of bedroom furniture and themes created by Italian company named ColombiniCasa.
The main ideas is o give your kids a special room preference in color and bed design. The innumerable themes furnishings reveal the similar space plan with the parents might purchase. For example, raise a twin bed such as a bunk version and put a study room at floor level. Open place a miniature flat screen TV over a toy box. Well-organized drawing then grants your kid more play room, consequently working out both the brain and the body for good health. Take a look at the pictures gallery and get the inspiration.

Sea Turtles and Mermaids

Folly Beach Pier, Folly Beach, SC © Doug Hickok

Folly Beach Pier is one of the longest on the East Coast. I remember when it first opened, we walked along the high boardwalk to the very end, admiring the beautiful views. Peering down into the ocean waters, we glimpsed a Loggerhead sea turtle suddenly swim to the surface, poke its reptilian head above the waves, and quickly dive back into the mirky depths. It was a thrilling site to see!
I think about ancient mariners seeing creatures like sea turtles, sea lions and dugongs (sea cows), and imagining them to be human-like beings such as mermaids and sirens. These ancient people were ignorant, trying to make sense of their world without the benefit of modern day knowledge. Hence the invention of myths, legends and supernatural tales.

Yet, I wonder how often imaginations still rule our perceptions, when we are ignorant of truths... and how will future generations look back on our myths, legends, and supernatural tales?

Opulent Victorian Gentleman’s Virtual House Furniture

This special edition about home design inspiration today come from luxury Victorian house which truly attracting our attention especially if we are take a look at the interior decorating ideas. The perfect and awesome home visualization called Victorian Gentleman’s Virtual House designed by TheeDex studio.
I say this is “luxurious home” because the house furniture with gold gilding, and green accents are selected from expensive material. TheeDex studio as the designer brings to life this classic abode style of a Victorian gentleman that absolutely wonderful. The particulars in the photos gallery here just keep hitting you from the twinkle of the interior lighting to the shadows of the modern pool balls to the puckers of the diamond tufting on the comfort leather chairs. Simply nitpick I have is that several of the pictures seem a little washed out. Maybe rather than going for right photo-realism the TheeDex studio were gunning for surreal grandeur. So, give your opinion about this home design! Are you agree with my sight of view?
Here, I collect ten photos design of Victorian Gentleman’s Virtual House design:

Class Room Interior with Splash Color Idea

We bring to you new inspiration of modern school design with fun and colorful design. Designed by smith+tracey famous designer based on Australia architect that created this class room interior with a splash of color idea.
A cool combination between room decor and creative furniture selection make this class room very amazing.  The driving force in the school design architectures is the well being of the learner’s. With this in intelligence the smith+tracey have come up by solutions which both connect the students and turn aside from what they would usually imagine for a school environment.
The class room of this school design is adaptive and very fascinating. The awesome use of color breaks up the areas keen on different zones for group work, classes and single study spaces. The color is not just used on the walls although. The wall color designs usage contains the floors contemporary furniture and even the ceilings, stepping away from the characteristic drab colors that you will frequently find in schools.
The class room color decorating is not breathtaking either, being balanced through a neutral base of grey and white color schemes. I think it is very excellent to observe school designers stepping outside the box and not being frightened to seek something new ideas. As mainly parents will be grateful for their kids become more engaged the more engaging the environment creating this school environment perfect for kids and adults alike. Take a look at the pictures gallery, and click on the image to see the larger pictures.
